Over the past couple of years, Village on the Park has really gotten on board with helping the Alzheimer’s Association find a cure! We feel that Alzheimer’s and Dementia are diseases that effect each and every one of us in one way or another and we want to do what we can…while we can… to help bring awareness and money to the cause!
Some of our staff has participated in the official nation-wide walk the last 2 years, and after fundraising all summer and donating over $1000 to the association our residents wanted to strap on their tennis shoes and support all Alzheimer’s victims with a walk of their own. This walk symbolized the journey of the Alzheimer’s Association, the journey toward finding a cure. Slow and steady…everyone doing the best they can…encouragement and support along the way… and striving for that finish line, which one day will be the cure!
Thank you so much to all of our residents and staff who participated in this very important event this year! We wear our t-shirts with pride and believe they help solidify us as a team! The back of each one says, “To care for those who once cared for us is one of our highest honors” How incredibly true! It was the highlight of our walk to be greeted by our Memory Care residents at the starting line! They served as inspiration and a reminder to us of why we were doing what we were doing! All of us walked with a specific person in mind… a relative, a friend, a spouse. And we will keep walking until we beat this devastating disease once and for all! The Alzheimer’s Walk has become an important annual event for us at Village on the Park and we hope next year you will join us in our efforts to shed some light on this worthy cause!
